I have Windows 7 x64 platform. When I start Lingoes (ver 2.9.2), it always says “Request translation services failed.” I tried on other platforms (XP, Windows 7 x32, Windows 8.1 x32) and everywhere the same situation. Why?

This question has already been tackled here. I can confirm the software is working properly. I installed it on Windows 7 x64 as well without problems. Follow the indications on the previous answer and evertyhing should be fine.

Can this software be used on a Mac?

Lingoes is compatible only with Windows operating systems, but you can try to install it on your Mac computer using CrossOver. CrossOver allows you to run Windows applications on a Mac without requiring a Windows license. Also, you can use Boot Camp, which lets you install Windows on a separate partition of your hard drive.

I have downloaded the latest version of the software (2.8.0) from the official website and everything is working just fine. When installing, make sure to launch the software as Administrator. This will greatly increase functionality of the software if it requires special access to install it.

  1. It does not work anymore for a long time, if you have to use Systran translation on line.

  2. I have Windows 7 x64 platform. When I start Lingoes (ver 2.9.2), it always says “Request translation services failed.” I tried on other platforms (XP, Windows 7 x32, Windows x32 8.1) and everywhere the same situation. Why?

  3. Why doesn’t Lingoes dictionary have an option to translate English text to Persian text?

  4. Translation of words is possible also offline if you have downloaded the dictionary needed. But it does not let you translate texts offline, even if you downloaded the dictionary.

  5. This program doesn’t work on a 64 machine. I had to call the help line in order to record my purchases. Each time I open the program it says a update is available, I click and it downloads but I always get a message saying it’s not available. I paid for a Holmon version but the program won’t download it.

  6. Flash Plugin’s For Firefox 14.0.1 Seem to be bugged tons of crashing of Flash base Video players and Games

  7. errors out by changing burn speed to 32x, which is not supported by any reasonable dvd burning device on the market

  8. Now and then, when ripping CD audiobooks to MP3 files, Audiograbber stops working mysteriously. Later on, after rebooting PC, it works OK again. To avoid the hassle of restarting PC, when this happens, I usually shift to AlltoMP3 program for extractions.

  9. The downloading time’s slowish, but that’s okay because it’s quite worth it.

  10. it opens file like it is written 1000yrs ago. Text is not cleat at all. Try opening same file in adobe reader and other good pdf reader, u can easily see the difference.
Worst pdf reader of the day.
Also it has more load time then other pdf readers.

  11. My biggest issue is NO BUFFERING. Hello, Adobe (or whoever owns you now)…we don’t all get cable or T1 lines. If you are on a slow connection trying to watch a high quality video..you get 2 seconds of play, 4 seconds of black, 2 seconds of play, etc

  12. There are none. The more you learn the program the more you realize what it can do.

  13. It had been a couple weeks, but I think you have to specify Custom install. Do NOT allow their standard or quick install.

I really wish CNET would STOP trying to front-end every piece of software with all of its stuff when we download from CNET – toolbar and changing home page. Really ticks me off that CNET prostitutes itself this way.
